How We Get It to You

Processing Times

Most Own The Fire® products are handcrafted or built to order. Processing times vary by category and are separate from shipping transit time.

Standard Products

Artisan Leather 5 to 10 business days
Artisan Knives Varies by availability
Accessories and Tools 3 to 5 business days

Artisan Knives are Brazilian hand-forged blades. Processing time depends on current inventory and artisan production schedules. You will receive an email with your expected ship date after ordering.

Custom Grills and Builds

Our Santa Maria grills, custom Argentine parrillas, reverse flow smokers, and built-to-order fabrication are made to order:

  • Standard Santa Maria line (SM48 through SM60XLDX): 6 to 8 weeks from deposit to delivery
  • Custom and oversize builds: timeline confirmed during your consultation, based on complexity and current queue

Your specific timeline is confirmed before production begins, and we provide progress updates throughout the build.

Note on Processing Time

Processing time is separate from shipping transit time. Total delivery time equals processing time plus freight transit time.

Shipping Methods and Carriers

Standard Shipping (Small Items)

For smaller items including apparel, Artisan Knives, Artisan Leather, and accessories:

  • Carrier: USPS, UPS, or FedEx at our discretion based on size and weight
  • Transit time: 3 to 7 business days domestic
  • Tracking: Provided via email once shipped

Freight Shipping (Grills and Large Builds)

Custom grills, smokers, and large fabrication ship fully assembled by freight:

  • Carrier: Freight carrier selected based on destination and equipment size
  • Transit time: Varies by location, typically 1 to 3 weeks domestic
  • Delivery: Curbside delivery with lift gate standard
  • Coordination: We contact you to schedule delivery
  • Insurance: Fully insured in transit at full declared value

How grill freight is billed: Free local delivery within 100 miles of Long Island. Beyond that, freight is quoted by destination and billed on your final invoice, not calculated at checkout. Full details on the Shipping & Freight Policy.

Important: Large equipment shipments require someone present to receive delivery and sign for the shipment.

Shipping Rates

Domestic Shipping (United States)

Small items (apparel, knives, leather, accessories):

  • Calculated at checkout based on weight, dimensions, and destination
  • Free shipping promotions may be offered periodically

Grills and large builds:

  • Free local delivery within 100 miles of Long Island
  • Beyond that, freight is quoted by destination and billed on your final invoice, never calculated at checkout
  • White glove delivery options available at additional cost

Local Delivery: Free delivery and professional setup included within 100 miles of Long Island for custom grills and builds.

International Shipping

We currently ship within the United States only. International shipping may be available for select small items on request. International orders are subject to:

  • Higher shipping costs calculated at checkout
  • Longer transit times, 2 to 6 weeks depending on destination
  • Import duties, taxes, and customs fees (buyer's responsibility)
  • Limited tracking in some regions
  • More restrictive claims policy

Note: Large custom builds cannot be shipped internationally. Contact us for international shipping inquiries on small items.

Order Tracking

Once your order ships, you receive:

  • Shipping confirmation email with tracking number
  • Direct link to the carrier tracking page
  • Estimated delivery date

You can also track your order by:

  • Logging into your account at ownthefire.com
  • Contacting us at info@ownthefire.com with your order number

For freight shipments, the freight carrier contacts you directly to schedule delivery.

Delivery Information

Standard Deliveries

  • Packages are delivered to the shipping address provided at checkout
  • Delivery to PO Boxes may not be available for all items
  • Signature may be required for high-value items

Freight Deliveries (Grills and Large Builds)

  • Curbside delivery with lift gate: Standard freight delivery to the curb of your address
  • Inside delivery: Not typically included. Contact us to discuss options.
  • White glove delivery: Full service delivery and placement available for an additional fee

Receiving a Freight Shipment

When receiving a freight delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign. Check the grill for any visible damage before signing the delivery receipt.
  • Note any damage on the Bill of Lading before you sign, and refuse the shipment if it is damaged beyond repair
  • Take photos of any visible damage
  • Report concealed damage within 48 hours. We file the freight claim on your behalf.

Address Accuracy

Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate. We are not responsible for:

  • Delays due to incorrect or incomplete addresses
  • Additional fees for address corrections
  • Lost packages due to address errors

If you need to change your shipping address after ordering, contact us immediately at info@ownthefire.com. Changes may not be possible once the order has shipped.

Shipping Destinations

Domestic Shipping

We ship to all 50 US states. Remote locations (Alaska, Hawaii, US territories) may have:

  • Longer transit times
  • Higher shipping costs
  • Limited carrier options

International Shipping

Limited international shipping is available for select small items on request. Restrictions apply based on:

  • Product type and size
  • Destination country import regulations
  • Carrier service availability

Buyer's Responsibility

All international orders are subject to import duties, taxes, and customs fees. These are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in shipping costs or product prices. Contact your local customs office for estimated fees before ordering.

Delays and Issues

Shipping Delays

While we work to meet estimated delivery dates, delays may occur due to:

  • Weather conditions
  • Carrier delays
  • High volume periods (holidays, promotions)
  • Customs processing for international orders
  • Supply chain disruptions

We communicate significant delays as quickly as possible.

Lost or Missing Packages

If tracking shows delivered but you have not received the package:

  • Check with neighbors and household members
  • Look in alternative delivery locations (back door, garage, etc.)
  • Contact the carrier directly with your tracking number
  • Contact us if the package cannot be located

We work with the carrier to resolve lost package claims.

Damaged Shipments

If a small-item order arrives damaged:

  • Document immediately. Photograph the packaging and the product.
  • Contact us within 7 days at info@ownthefire.com
  • Keep all packaging. We may need photos of the original shipping materials.

Grill and Custom Build Shipping

Our Santa Maria grills, custom Argentine parrillas, reverse flow smokers, and large fabrication ship fully assembled and require freight delivery.

How to Order

The standard Santa Maria line, SM48 through SM60XLDX, can be reserved directly with a 50% deposit. The balance and freight are invoiced before your grill ships. For oversize or fully custom work, start with a consultation.

Crating and Protection

Every grill is prepared and protected for freight:

  • Secured to a pallet with ratchet straps
  • Protective padding and stretch wrap
  • Secure fastening to prevent movement
  • Weather protection for long-distance shipments

Delivery Coordination

For freight shipments, the process works like this:

  • Build completion notification: We contact you when ready to ship
  • Final invoice: Balance and freight are invoiced before shipping
  • Freight booking: We schedule the shipment
  • Tracking provided: You receive freight tracking information
  • Carrier contact: Freight company calls to schedule a delivery appointment
  • Delivery day: Be present to receive, inspect, and sign

Shipping During Holidays

During peak holiday periods, please expect:

  • Extended processing times
  • Carrier delays
  • Higher shipping volumes affecting transit times

Holiday cutoff dates: We post holiday shipping deadlines on our website and communicate them via email to help your orders arrive on time.
