Welcome to Own The Fire®. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website ownthefire.com, your purchases of our products, your access to the Member Vault, and your engagement with any of our services.

By accessing our website, making a purchase, or accessing the Member Vault, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or services.

About Own The Fire®

Own The Fire®, A Culinary Experience by Mike Riddle, is a chef-led live fire brand founded by Executive Chef Mike Riddle with over twenty years of professional kitchen experience. We offer:

  • Custom Builds: Hand-fabricated Argentine parrilla and Santa Maria grills, reverse flow smokers, and custom BBQ prep stations
  • Artisan Knives: Brazilian hand-forged full-tang blades
  • Artisan Leather: Full-grain leather aprons, knife rolls, sheaths, and accessories
  • The Member Vault: One-time purchase recipe library with 80+ professional recipes across 8 categories, updated monthly
  • Signature Gear and Apparel: Branded apparel and accessories

Eligibility

To use our website and services, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
  • Not be prohibited from using our services under applicable laws

By using our services, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

Account Registration

  • You share login credentials or distribute proprietary content
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period

Products and Services

Product Descriptions

We strive to describe our products as accurately as possible. However, we do not warrant that product descriptions, images, or other content are accurate, complete, reliable, or error-free. Colors and finishes may vary from what is displayed on your screen due to monitor settings.

Handcrafted Nature of Products

Our products, including custom grills, smokers, Artisan Knives, and Artisan Leather, are handcrafted. As such:

  • Each item is unique and may have slight variations
  • Minor variations in finish, color, grain, or dimensions are inherent to handcrafted work and are not considered defects
  • Custom builds are created to your specifications and may differ from display examples

Pricing

All prices are listed in US dollars and are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors. If an item's correct price is higher than the listed price, we will contact you before processing your order.

Availability

Products are subject to availability. We reserve the right to limit quantities and to discontinue any product at any time.

Orders and Payment

Placing Orders

By placing an order, you represent that:

  • You are authorized to use the payment method provided
  • All information you provide is accurate and complete
  • You will pay all charges, including applicable taxes and shipping fees

Order Acceptance

Your receipt of an order confirmation does not constitute our acceptance of your order. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order for any reason, including:

  • Product availability
  • Errors in product or pricing information
  • Suspected fraudulent activity

Payment Methods

We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All payments are processed securely through our third-party payment processor. We do not store your complete payment information on our servers.

Order Processing

  • Standard products: Orders typically ship within 3 to 7 business days
  • Artisan Knives: Processing time varies based on availability. You will be notified of the expected ship date.
  • Custom builds: Processing times vary based on project scope. Detailed timeline is provided during consultation.
  • Member Vault: Access is granted instantly upon purchase.

The Member Vault

Access and Purchase

The Member Vault is a one-time purchase that unlocks permanent access to a private section of ownthefire.com containing 80+ professional recipes across 8 categories, updated monthly. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no renewal.

Access Terms

  • Access is granted immediately upon purchase confirmation
  • Access is permanent and tied to your individual account
  • Access is personal and non-transferable
  • Recipes are downloadable as PDFs for personal reference
  • New recipes added to the Vault are included at no additional cost

Member Vault: No Refunds

The Member Vault is a digital product. All Member Vault sales are final. Because recipes are downloadable on first access, no refunds or partial refunds are issued under any circumstance, including after partial or full download of content.

Content Use and Restrictions

  • Content is for personal, non-commercial use only
  • You may not share login credentials with others
  • You may not distribute, republish, or resell downloaded recipes publicly
  • You may not use Member Vault content for commercial purposes without written permission
  • You may not post Member Vault content on social media or other public platforms

Enforcement

We track account activity and reserve the right to terminate accounts without refund for violation of these terms, including sharing credentials, bulk downloading for redistribution, or commercial use of Member Vault content.

Custom Build Projects

Consultation Process

Custom grills, smokers, and other built-to-order projects require a consultation process:

  • Initial inquiry and discovery call (by appointment only)
  • Design specifications and quote
  • Deposit and production scheduling
  • Build progress updates
  • Final payment and delivery coordination

Deposits and Payment Schedule

  • Custom builds require a deposit (typically 50%) to begin production
  • Deposits are non-refundable once production begins
  • Final payment is due before shipment or delivery
  • Payment schedules for large projects may be customized

Specifications and Changes

  • All custom work is built to agreed-upon specifications
  • Change orders after production begins may result in additional charges and delays
  • Major design changes after production begins may not be possible

Timeline

  • Production timelines are estimates and may vary based on complexity and materials
  • We communicate significant delays promptly
  • Delays beyond our control (supplier issues, shipping disruptions, weather) do not constitute breach of contract

Intellectual Property

Our Content

All content on ownthefire.com, including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, audio, software, Member Vault recipes, and design elements, is the property of Own The Fire Culinary Group, LLC or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Trademarks

Own The Fire®, Artisan Knives, Artisan Leather, and associated logos, taglines, and brand elements are trademarks of Own The Fire Culinary Group, LLC. You may not use these marks without our prior written permission.

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use our website for personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not include:

  • Modifying or copying our content
  • Using our content for commercial purposes
  • Attempting to decompile or reverse engineer any software
  • Removing any copyright or proprietary notices
  • Creating derivative works based on our content
  • Reselling or redistributing our products or content

Member Vault Content

Member Vault recipes and educational content are provided for your personal use. You may not:

  • Share login credentials with others
  • Record, copy, or redistribute Vault content publicly
  • Use Vault content for commercial purposes without written permission
  • Post Vault content on social media or other platforms

User Content

If you submit content to us (reviews, testimonials, photos, comments), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and display that content in connection with our business.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Use our website for any unlawful purpose
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others
  • Submit false or misleading information
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of our website
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems

  • Working with fire, grills, smokers, and sharp tools involves inherent risks
  • You are responsible for following proper safety procedures
  • We are not liable for injuries or damages resulting from cooking activities
  • You should consult appropriate professionals for safety guidance

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Own The Fire®, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
  • Any damages arising from your use of or inability to use our website or services

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to these Terms or your use of our website or services shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Own The Fire Culinary Group, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content you submit to us
  • Your negligent or wrongful conduct

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of our services shall be resolved as follows:

  • Informal resolution: You agree to first contact us at info@ownthefire.com to attempt to resolve any dispute informally.
  • Mediation: If informal resolution is unsuccessful, the parties agree to attempt to resolve the dispute through mediation before pursuing other remedies.
  • Jurisdiction: Any legal action or proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, New York, and you consent to the jurisdiction of such courts.

Class Action Waiver

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes, but it is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Return and Refund Policy, and Shipping Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Own The Fire Culinary Group, LLC regarding your use of our website and services, superseding any prior agreements.
